This final generation MacGregor 26X has all the traditional charactoristics of the classic M26 model, however boasts a rather large outboard engine giving the vessel option to be a power boat with a mast. Earlier versions of the MacGregor were equipped with 5-10 HP outboard engines. Recently owner installed new power packs to the motor in 2015 as well as new impeller and sail cover.

The MacGregor 36X has an ability to drain the ballasts allowing it to come up to plane, similar to powerboat. Sheering was upgraded from a tiller to a steering wheel. Cabin size has increased to accomidate larger dining and entertaining below.
